Testing

Composing a lactate test report

After a lactate test, you build a report for your athlete in Coachbox. The measured values, thresholds, and zones come straight from the test. As a coach, you add the explanation and feedback.

Building the report

Open the test on your athlete's profile and go to the Report tab. You will see a list of sections that you can switch on or off independently:

  • Athlete: basic profile details
  • Training condition: form, fatigue, and context at the time of the test
  • Test info: protocol, location, and execution details
  • Test results: measured values per step
  • Lactate curve: chart with your analysis
  • Thresholds: LT1, LT2, and derived values
  • Training zones: zones derived from the test
  • Training advice: your recommendations for the athlete

Each section has its own free-text field where you can add an explanation or feedback.

Adding zone descriptions

The Training zones section has a free-text field. This is where you type the per-zone explanation that ends up in the report. Coachbox does not ship fixed, pre-written zone descriptions, so you decide exactly how to describe the zones to your athlete (for example Recovery, Extensive endurance, Fat threshold, ...).

Giving feedback to your athlete

The Training advice section is meant for personal feedback and recommendations based on the test results: training advice, points of attention, and goals for the period ahead.

Working with snippets

Do you often type the same zone explanation or standard advice? You can save it as a snippet and reuse it.

Saving a snippet

  1. Type your text in a section (for example Training zones)
  2. Click Save as snippet at the top of the section
  3. Give the snippet a name and save it

Loading a snippet

  1. Click Load snippet in an empty section
  2. Pick a previously saved snippet from the list
  3. The text appears in the field. You can still edit it for this specific athlete without changing the saved snippet.

💡 Coachbox ships per-sport default snippets (for example "Default zones for Cycling"). They show up automatically in the Load snippet picker.

Sharing or printing the report

Once your report is ready, you can:

  • Print it as a PDF via Print report at the top
  • Share it with your athlete through a public link (the athlete does not need a Coachbox account to view the report)

Good to know

  • Empty sections are hidden in the final report, so you don't have to fill in every section
  • You can hide sections by switching them off on the left
  • Use the Variables button to insert dynamic values like name, date, and test results into your text, so snippets adapt automatically per athlete
