Importing Workouts
In addition to automatic syncing from connected devices, you can manually import workout files directly onto the calendar.
How to import a workout
Using the Upload button
- Click the Upload button in the top right of the calendar toolbar
- Select one or more
.fitor.tcxfiles from your computer - The workout(s) will be imported to the calendar
Using drag and drop
You can also drag workout files directly onto the calendar. A drop zone overlay will appear showing the supported formats.
Supported file formats
| Format | Description |
|---|---|
.fit | Flexible and Interoperable Data Transfer — used by Garmin, Wahoo, and most modern devices |
.tcx | Training Center XML — an older format supported by many devices and platforms |
Uploading multiple files
When you upload multiple files at once, a progress dialog shows the status of each file:
- A green checkmark indicates the file was imported successfully
- A red indicator means the file could not be processed
Troubleshooting
Upload failed
If a file cannot be processed, it may be corrupted or in an unsupported format. Try:
- Exporting the file again from your device or platform
- Converting the file to
.fitor.tcxformat using a third-party tool - Checking that the file is not empty (0 bytes)
Invalid file type
Only .fit and .tcx files are accepted. Other formats (such as .gpx) are not currently supported for direct import.
Good to know
- Imported workouts are automatically placed on the correct date based on the file's timestamp.
- The Upload button is available to coaches and athletes on their own calendar.
- For automatic imports, consider setting up synchronisation with your device platform.
- Rides from virtual platforms (Zwift, Rouvy, MyWhoosh, TrainerRoad …) do not sync automatically through Garmin Connect or another connected platform. Download the
.fitfile from the source platform and upload it here manually. See also Setting up synchronisation.
